The Black Stars of Ghana faced a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Sudan during matchday four of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, held at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Ghana started the match strongly, dominating possession and pressing for an early goal, with Mohammed Kudus coming close on several occasions. However, as the first half progressed, Sudan began to find their footing, creating a few tense moments for the Ghanaian defense. Inaki Williams emerged as a key threat for Ghana midway through the half, but the teams went into halftime with the score still level.

Sudan broke the deadlock shortly after the hour mark when Ahmed Al Tash found the net with a right-footed shot from the edge of the six-yard box. They doubled their lead in the 65th minute through Mohamed Abdelrahman, who capitalized on the momentum from their opener. Despite Ghana’s attempts to mount a comeback, they struggled to convert their chances into goals. Ultimately, Sudan’s efficient performance left the star-studded Ghanaian side frustrated as the final whistle blew.

With this loss, Ghana now sits in third place in their group, having recorded two draws and two losses in four matches. Angola leads the group with 12 points, while Sudan moves into second place following their victory over Ghana. Niger occupies the fourth position with one draw and three losses.
