The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all 23 chairmanship and 255 councillorship seats in Saturday’s local government elections, as announced by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM).
The commission’s chairperson, Hajara Mohammed, confirmed that eight political parties participated in the elections, but the APC secured a clean sweep of the positions across the state.
Announcing the results, KAD-SIECOM Chairperson Hajara Mohammed confirmed APC’s sweeping victory, listing local governments like Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Jaba, Kachia, Kaduna North, and Zango-Kataf, among others, where the party claimed wins.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, after casting his vote at LEA Kawo polling unit O47 in Kaduna North, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections. He highlighted that the process was largely free and fair, with only minor issues reported in a few areas.
The Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) Kaduna chapter also commended the transparency of the election, acknowledging the peaceful atmosphere despite delays in the arrival of voting materials in some polling units.
