Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Lagos Island Constituency 2, Hon. Lanre Afinni will kick off the 3rd Afinni Unity Cup today October 19th 2024 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos

The Cup which was launched in 2020 by Hon. Lanre Afinni, was established as a powerful initiative to address the growing concerns of violence, drug abuse, and youth unemployment within Lagos Island communities.

Since its inception, the tournament has made a significant impact, leading to a more than 40% reduction in violence across the area.


In this third edition, the competition brings together 16 communities: Ricca/Odunfa, Ebute Elefun/Sura, Sandgrouse, Anikantamo/Swamp, Epetedo East, Phase 1 & 2, Araromi, Epetedo West, Pike Forseythe, Okepopo/Amuto, Okesuna/Abitifa, Phase 3 & 4, Tinubu/Luther, Faji/Evans, and Campos/Popo Aguda.


The first match of the day will see Ricca/Odunfa face Epetedo East by 9am.

This year’s tournament runs from October 19th to November 2nd, 2024, at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena in Onikan.

The Defending Champions of the Cup is Odunfa & Ricca – 2. They defeated Massey & Carena 2-0 at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.
