The Nigerian government has officially dropped all charges against Tigran Gambaryan, a senior executive at Binance Holdings, who has been on trial for alleged money laundering since April.

A lawyer for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the prosecuting body, announced the withdrawal of the charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, ahead of the previously scheduled hearing date of October 25.

The sudden decision appeared to be made discreetly to minimize public attention. The prosecution clarified that Mr. Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen, was simply an employee of Binance and had no direct involvement in the financial activities for which the company was under investigation.

Mark Mordi, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and counsel for Mr. Gambaryan, concurred with the EFCC’s position, emphasizing that his client had no role in the broader financial decisions of the company.
