Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mallam Shehu Dikko on his recent appointment as Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
Gusau expressed confidence in Dikko’s vast experience in football administration, highlighting his expertise in marketing, his role as Chairman of Nigeria’s elite League, his tenure as a top international match commissioner, and his positions as NFF Vice President and a member of both FIFA and CAF Committees, all of which have prepared him for the significant responsibilities ahead.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Dikko to the role on Wednesday, replacing the Federal Ministry of Sports Development with the reinstated National Sports Commission. Dikko, who served nearly eight years as Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League (now Nigeria Premier Football League) and as the NFF’s second Vice President, is expected to bring his expertise to this important national role.

In his congratulatory message, Gusau stated, “On behalf of the NFF and the entire Nigeria football community, I extend warm congratulations to Mallam Shehu Dikko on his prestigious national assignment. His knowledge, skills, experience, dedication, and intelligence will undoubtedly ensure the success of the National Sports Commission.

“We worked together on the same NFF Board for close to eight years, and I can vouch for his resourcefulness and forward-thinking ideas. The Nigeria Football Federation will collaborate with him to elevate our football to new heights.”
Dikko has chaired various NFF committees, including those focused on marketing and sponsorship, and is currently a member of the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.
