Zamalek stars Mostafa Shalaby and Nabil Emad, along with the club’s sporting director Abdel Wahed El Sayed, have been sentenced to one month in prison and fined 200,000 dirhams ($55,000) each for their involvement in an altercation during the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final in the United Arab Emirates.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court handed down the punishment following the incident, which took place at Al Nahyan Stadium on October 20.
The scuffle reportedly began between the three Zamalek representatives and a stadium official, following Zamalek’s victory over Pyramids FC in a tense penalty shootout that ended 5-4.
The court’s statement, posted on the social media platform X, cited that the individuals were charged with “committing acts that would disturb public order and incite riots in front of the fans,” signaling the serious nature of the incident.
