Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed their nations’ collaborative efforts to bring peace to the Gaza Strip and Lebanon in a phone call on Tuesday.
The ministers emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the worsening crisis, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
The conversation also addressed the escalating situation in Lebanon, where both ministers highlighted the need for a rapid ceasefire and prioritization of humanitarian support to the affected Lebanese population.
Additionally, the Egyptian and Qatari officials underscored the importance of preventing further conflict spread across the region, affirming their commitment to stabilization efforts.
Since conflict erupted between Hamas and Israel in October last year, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States have jointly worked to mediate a truce in Gaza. Although several rounds of negotiations in Doha and Cairo have taken place in recent months, a long-term solution remains elusive.
