The Ekiti State judiciary has confirmed the passing of its Chief Judge, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, at the age of 63 following a brief illness. The sad news was announced on Tuesday by the Chief Registrar, Olanike Adegoke.

In a statement released by the judiciary’s Public Relations Officer, Michael Oba, Adegoke paid tribute to Justice Adeyeye, calling him “a highly respected jurist who devoted his life to upholding the principles of fairness, equity, and justice.” She noted that his contributions to the judiciary and the state would leave an enduring legacy.

Justice Adeyeye, who was born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, began his legal career when he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986. He was appointed Chief Judge of Ekiti State in October 2021 and served with distinction until his passing.

Justice Adeyeye’s health came into focus last year when he was hospitalized after a section of the state high court complex collapsed on him while he was in his office. Despite the incident, he continued his commitment to justice until his recent illness. His passing marks the end of a career dedicated to advancing the judiciary and upholding the rule of law in Ekiti State.
