Nigeria’s Edo Queens Women’s team is guaranteed at least USD 150,000 for their participation in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.

Emem Essien emerged as a standout player, scoring in the final match and finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.
As one of eight teams competing in the Women’s Champions League, Edo Queens will receive a guaranteed minimum prize as part of CAF’s newly expanded prize structure. This year, CAF has increased the total prize pool by 52%, raising it to USD 2.35 million to support and elevate women’s football across Africa.

Advancing in the tournament could significantly boost Edo Queens’ earnings. The prize for the champion team stands at USD 600,000, while the runners-up will receive USD 400,000. Teams finishing in third and fourth place will earn USD 350,000 and USD 300,000, respectively. Even teams that finish third or fourth in the group stage will receive USD 200,000 and USD 150,000.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe emphasized the organization’s commitment to the growth of women’s football on the continent. He noted that increasing prize money and investing in youth academies will be crucial to fostering future talent.
For Edo Queens, this tournament represents a significant opportunity to vie for continental glory and contribute to the advancement of Nigerian women’s football on the African stage.
