Nigeria: IGP Egbetokun, Defence Officials Pay Condolence Visit to Late COAS Lagbaja’s Widow

In a show of solidarity and respect, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, along with top officials from the Defence Headquarters, paid a condolence visit to Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, widow of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, at her residence in Abuja.

During the visit, the IGP praised the late General Lagbaja as a committed and courageous leader who devoted his life to protecting Nigeria’s security and sovereignty.

Egbetokun, speaking highly of Lagbaja’s contribution to the fight against insurgency and terrorism, said, “He was a great man whose dedication to Nigeria’s security left an indelible mark on our nation.”

The condolence delegation included the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of State Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as well as other service chiefs and senior Defence Headquarters officials. Together, they mourned the loss of a key figure in Nigeria’s military leadership, acknowledging the profound gap his passing has created.

On behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Egbetokun extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as Commander-in-Chief, and to the Armed Forces, family, and friends of the late COAS. He prayed for comfort and strength for all those mourning this significant loss to the nation.
