General Michael Langley, Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), recently visited Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. He was accompanied by the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, noted that General Langley commended Nigeria’s strategic approach to addressing insecurity. Langley acknowledged Nigeria’s leadership role in regional security and congratulated General Musa on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Committee of ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff.

General Gusau added that the Chief of Defence Staff reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working alongside other nations to combat terrorism across West Africa. Additionally, General Musa expressed Nigeria’s interest in enhanced cooperation with the United States, particularly in areas such as training, intelligence sharing, and assistance in procuring essential military equipment.
“In his response, the CDS thanked the AFRICOM Commander for his visit and assured him of the Armed Forces’ dedication to collaborate with other regional nations to eliminate terrorism and crime,” Gusau stated.
