President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 19th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit scheduled for November 18–19th 2024.

The president was welcomed by Amb. Breno Costa from Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations and is joined by a delegation including ministers responsible for foreign affairs, agriculture, culture, and national intelligence.

The summit, hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will focus on the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.” Key agenda items include addressing global poverty and hunger, advancing energy transition, and promoting sustainable development.

President Tinubu is expected to advocate for reforms in global governance institutions, reaffirming Nigeria’s call for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. He will also engage in bilateral meetings with world leaders to further Nigeria’s socio-economic goals, particularly in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.
