The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the top five nominees for each of the Men’s Categories ahead of the 2024 CAF Awards, scheduled to take place on December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.

Among the standout players is Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, who made the prestigious top five list. However, his national team captain, William Troost-Ekong, missed out after initially being included in the nine-man shortlist.

The nominees for the Player of the Year category include:
- Simon Adingra (Côte d’Ivoire / Brighton & Hove Albion)
- Serhou Guirassy (Guinea / Borussia Dortmund)
- Achraf Hakimi (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain)
- Ademola Lookman (Nigeria / Atalanta)
- Ronwen Williams (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns)

In addition to the Player of the Year, CAF also revealed nominees for other categories, such as Goalkeeper of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Club of the Year, and National Team of the Year.

The awards celebrate excellence in African football by recognizing outstanding performances in both club and national competitions during the period of January 2024 to October 2024.

The ceremony promises to honor the best players, coaches, and teams across the continent, with the CAF African Player of the Year award being the highlight of the event in both the men’s and women’s categories.
