Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has announced a significant pay increase for state civil servants. Effective December 2024, the minimum wage will be raised to ₦70,000.

The decision follows a recommendation from a state government committee tasked with reviewing the minimum wage. To ensure a smooth transition, particularly for local government employees, the government is currently reconciling local government finances. This process is nearing completion and is expected to be finalized soon.
