The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with security agencies, successfully thwarted an attempted cattle rustling operation by the Lakurawa bandit group in Gamuzza village, Arewa Local Government Area, and Gwado village, Bunza Local Government Area.
The operation, which disrupted the activities of the criminal group, was disclosed on Sunday in a statement by AbdurRahman Usman Zagga, Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi. Zagga credited the success to swift intervention following credible intelligence about the bandits’ plans.
Acting on Governor Nasir Idris’s directive, security forces, including the Nigerian Air Force and ground troops, were deployed to track and disperse the bandits. Zagga emphasized the Governor’s firm commitment to eradicating banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Kebbi State.
Governor Idris has prioritized strengthening collaboration between security agencies and local stakeholders, including traditional leaders, to enhance intelligence sharing and coordination. Regular security meetings have been instituted to ensure swift responses to threats.
Zagga expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support of security initiatives, especially in vulnerable communities prone to bandit attacks, and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity.
