In a time of escalating environmental challenges, youth activism is playing a transformative role in driving change.

The Lagos State Youth Parliament (LSYP) 5th Assembly demonstrated this by organizing a cleanup exercise at Sabo Market, Ikorodu, as part of its Environmental Advocacy Campaign.

This initiative emphasized LSYP’s dedication to fostering a cleaner, healthier Lagos while inspiring collective action across all constituencies.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including Hon. Ogunlewe, the Honorable Representative of Ikorodu Constituency 01; the Iya Oloja of Sabo Market and her executives; the National President of NAIDS; the NANS Lagos JCC Chairman; NYCN representatives; and many enthusiastic youths.
Recognizing the power of collaboration, participants worked together to champion environmental sustainability and promote cleaner practices. The LSYP Speaker commended the Chairman and the Environmental and Waste Management Committee for their outstanding efforts.
She highlighted the initiative as a step toward supporting policies aligned with the Lagos Climate Action Plan.
Hon. Ogunlewe encouraged the participants and pledged his continued support for the campaign. Similarly, the Iya Oloja expressed gratitude for choosing Sabo Market for the cleanup and reiterated the market’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
Representatives from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) were also present, assisting with waste collection and reinforcing the importance of proper waste management.
This impactful event serves as a rallying call for all constituencies to join hands in creating a cleaner, more welcoming Lagos.
