Popular actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, has won the Ayawaso West constituency election in Ghana on the platform of National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dumelo won by defeating his opponent from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a closely contested race.
The actor first attempted to win the seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Mrs. Lydia Alhassan of the NPP.
In this year’s election, Dumelo garnered 47,560 votes, defeating incumbent Alhassan, who secured 39,214 votes.

His campaign this time around captivated youths as it reflected a desire for social change, job creation, and empowerment for youth and women.
Some key areas he promised to touch if elected include local infrastructure, education, and any sector that would provide opportunities for young people in the constituency.
Speaking after he was declared winner, the actor said,“This victory is not just for me, but for the people of Ayawaso West. I am committed to ensuring that we build a stronger, more prosperous community together.”
Dumelo has starred in so many movies and is a prominent face in Nollywood and Ghollywood.
