Morocco’s King Mohammed VI recently underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder after suffering a fall during a workout.
According to state media, the king’s medical team performed the surgery on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Royal Palace Clinic in Rabat.
The surgery was necessary due to a fracture in the humerus caused by the fall.
Recovery Plan
The king’s medical team, consisting of Pr. Belyamani Lahcen, Pr. Zine Ali, Pr. Bouabid Salim, Pr. Benchekroun Mohammed, and traumatology professors at the Mohammed V Military Training Hospital, have recommended a 45-day rest period to allow the shoulder to recover. Following this, the king will undergo a period of functional rehabilitation.
Previous Health Issues
This isn’t the first time the palace has issued statements about the king’s health.
Previously, King Mohammed VI has undergone heart surgery in 2018 and 2020, treated for a lung infection in 2019, and contracted COVID-19.
