The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has approved the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate.
In a statement released on Monday by Deputy Director of Information, Emmanuel N. Anyigor, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Commission announced that Nwoba’s appointment will take effect from December 11, 2024.
The decision was made during the Commission’s meeting on December 4, 2024.
Nwoba succeeds Chinedu Francis Akubueze in the role. Prior to his appointment, Nwoba served as the Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

The Commission also approved the elevation of several key officers within the National Assembly bureaucracy. Mr. Emmanuel Oda was appointed Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate, while Vivien N. Njemanze was named Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives.
Additionally, Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha has been appointed Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning. Mr. Rawlings Agada was moved from his previous position as Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), Senate. Florence Kehinde A. was similarly deployed from Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives.
Earlier, the Commission had approved the appointment of Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resources & Staff Development, and Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.
