Dear Fellow Nigerians, On this joyous Christmas Day, I extend warm greetings to Christians across Nigeria and around the world as we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, as told in the Holy Scriptures.

Christmas represents the fulfilment of divine prophecy and embodies the triumph of love, peace, and unity. It reminds us that light can emerge even in the darkest times, offering solace and hope to all, regardless of faith. Truly, God is with us.

We are deeply saddened by the recent tragic events in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by these heartbreaking incidents. Let us collectively pray that such misfortunes never again afflict our families and communities and that innocent lives are no longer lost prematurely.

To those enduring pain and loss this year—whether from floods, fires, or accidents—I offer my deepest sympathies. May faith, the support of loved ones, and the enduring presence of Jesus Christ bring you comfort and healing. Our compassionate and merciful God remains with the weak, the brokenhearted, and the sick.

As we celebrate this blessed season, let us remember those facing hardship. They are among us—our neighbours, family, and those we meet in daily life, whether in places of worship, markets, offices, or boardrooms.

Kindness is universal, transcending wealth. A smile or a kind word can uplift both those with modest means and those with abundance.

Let us also honour the courage and sacrifice of our troops, who dedicate their lives to safeguarding our nation. They deserve our unwavering prayers and support.

Similarly, we must extend prayers and encouragement to our nation’s leaders. With your support, we can diligently serve our country and strive for prosperity.

Nigeria is on a promising path of restoration and progress. Together, we can look forward to a brighter future. In the spirit of the season, let us renew our hope and belief in a prosperous Nigeria.

For those travelling during this festive period, I wish you safe journeys. Rest assured that the government is working tirelessly to ensure secure and convenient transportation. We have also arranged free train services and subsidized road transport on 144 routes nationwide to ease your travels.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a joyous and prosperous New Year.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President, Federal Republic of Nigeria
