A devastating fire broke out at Masaka Market in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State late Friday night, leaving countless traders grappling with significant losses.
Eyewitnesses reported that the inferno started around 10 PM and continued to rage for hours, with no fire service officials present at the scene to contain the flames.
This marks the second major fire incident in the market since 2019. Videos from the scene show distraught traders mourning their losses while scavengers sifted through the charred remains in search of valuables.
In the aftermath of the disaster, traders are urging the government to intervene and provide much-needed support to help them recover from their losses.
