African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, is on the brink of a significant milestone as he prepares to make his 100th appearance for Atalanta in their Supercoppa Italiana semi-final clash against Inter Milan today at Al-Awwal Park, Saudi Arabia.
The Nigeria international, part of the Atalanta squad that arrived in Saudi Arabia on New Year’s Eve, is expected to feature in tonight’s high-stakes encounter. Atalanta aims to overcome the reigning Italian champions and secure a place in the final.
Lookman joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in a €9.3 million transfer. Under the tutelage of experienced manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the forward has thrived, registering 44 goals and 24 assists in 99 appearances across all competitions
This season, the 27-year-old has been in exceptional form, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in 21 matches, further cementing his status as one of Serie A’s most influential forwards.

Lookman’s contributions have been pivotal to Atalanta’s ambitions on both domestic and international fronts. Last season, he played a starring role in the club’s historic victory over Bayer Leverkusen, netting a hat-trick in a 3-0 win to secure their first major trophy.
In Serie A, Lookman has been instrumental in Atalanta’s pursuit of their first-ever league title, drawing inspiration from his compatriot who guided Napoli to their first championship in 33 years.

Lookman will also be keen to help Atalanta avenge their earlier 4-0 defeat to Inter this season, a match he missed due to transfer uncertainties at the time. Now settled and in peak form, Lookman has the opportunity to make a decisive impact as Atalanta eyes further glory.
As he prepares for his milestone 100th game, Lookman remains determined to lead Atalanta to another trophy and etch his name further into the club’s history books.
