The Borno State Police Command announced on Thursday the recovery of three abandoned projectiles in the Dala Kafanti area of Maiduguri.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, the discovery followed a report from a concerned resident about a suspicious sack left behind a building.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit swiftly responded, securing the area and conducting a thorough sweep. Inside the sack, the team found three projectiles believed to have been abandoned by unidentified individuals earlier that morning.
Preliminary investigations suggest the ordnance was dropped under suspicious circumstances in the early hours of the day. Following the recovery, the police conducted a community awareness session on Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) to educate residents on identifying and reporting potential explosive threats.
The Commissioner of Police, Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to public safety and urged citizens to remain vigilant, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or objects to security agencies.
