Super Falcons of Nigerian Midfielder, Deborah Abiodun has officially signed with National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Washington Spirit.
Abiodun joins the Spirit from the Pittsburgh Panthers, where she made a significant impact during her two seasons. The 21-year-old has agreed to a three-year contract with an option for an additional season.

During her time at Pitt, Abiodun featured in 34 matches, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists. She earned recognition as a standout player, being named to the All-ACC teams in both seasons.
In 2023, she was selected for the All-ACC Freshman Team and the Third Team, while in 2024, she secured a spot on the Second Team All-ACC. Abiodun shared on the club’s official website: “I’m beyond thrilled to take this next step in my career by joining Washington Spirit.

Abiodun represented Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, further showcasing her talent on the global stage.
Her move to Washington Spirit marks an exciting new chapter as she continues her professional journey in one of the world’s most competitive women’s leagues.
