The Nigerian Army has announced the elimination of two suspected gang members linked to the killing of four soldiers on protection duty in Rivers State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Danjuma Danjuma, spokesperson for the 6 Division in Port Harcourt, revealed that troops of the 5 Battalion carried out the operation at the gang’s hideout in Kalaogbokolo, Ahoada West Local Government Area.

According to Mr. Danjuma, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating the gang’s return to the community. “The gang was responsible for the killing of four soldiers and the abduction of two Korean expatriates working for Daewoo Nigeria Limited on December 12, 2023,” he stated.

During the raid, two suspects were apprehended but were neutralized after attempting to escape into the bush following a prolonged chase by the troops. The troops recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including:
- One AK-47 rifle
- One Fabrique Nationale rifle
- One pump-action shotgun
- Two locally made rifles
- Three AK-47 magazines
- Three rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition
- 13 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to ensure that perpetrators of such crimes face justice, no matter how long it takes.
“We assure citizens of our commitment to protecting lives and property. We also urge the public to continue providing actionable intelligence on criminal activities,” Mr. Danjuma said.
The operation underscores the military’s dedication to restoring peace and security in the region.
