In a significant blow to banditry in Katsina State, notorious bandit leader “Baƙo-baƙo” and his fighters were neutralized by Joint Security Forces on Thursday.
The operation, which took place in Batsari Forest, Batsari Local Government Area, was a meticulously planned and executed effort by the Nigerian Army, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Katsina Security Watch Corps.
According to security sources, the troops advanced into the bandits’ stronghold under the cover of dusk, engaging “Baƙo-baƙo” and his men in a fierce gun battle.
The superior firepower and strategy of the combined forces ultimately overwhelmed the bandits, resulting in the death of “Baƙo-baƙo” and his fighters.
The notorious bandit leader was responsible for violent attacks and kidnappings that terrorized several communities in Katsina State.
His death is seen as a major success in efforts to tackle banditry in the area, with a local community leader describing it as “a huge step towards restoring peace to our villages”.
