Nigeria: Lagos Youth Parliament Congratulates House of Assembly’s First Female Speaker

The Lagos State Youth Parliament, representing the 40 constituencies of the state, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, the newly elected Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Hon. Mojeed Fatai, the Deputy Speaker.

Led by Rt. Hon. Itunuoluwa Maria Soniregun, the Youth Parliament lauded this historic achievement, with Meranda becoming the first female Speaker in the Assembly’s history.

In a statement celebrating the milestone, the Parliament wished the new leadership divine guidance and strength to uphold the integrity and values associated with their positions.

“We beseech God Almighty to extend unending guidance to the new leadership of the House and accord them the sheer strength to uphold the integrity and core values that come with this topmost position.”

The Lagos State Youth Parliament (5th Assembly) also emphasized its hope for strengthened collaboration between the Assembly and the Youth Parliament to ensure enhanced representation for the state’s young people.

“We felicitate with you and look forward to a more robust synergy with the State Lawmakers to complement the outstanding representation that the Lagos State Youth Parliament offers for the youth of Lagos State,” the statement read.

This milestone marks a new chapter in the Assembly’s history, symbolizing progress and inclusivity in Lagos State governance.
