The Senate and House of Representatives have shifted their plenary resumption from Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to Tuesday, February 4, 2025, citing ongoing budget defense activities by ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
The Clerk of the Senate, Andrew Nwoba, announced the postponement stating that it was necessary to allow adequate time for the 2025 budget defense process.
“Please be informed that the resumption date has been rescheduled to Tuesday, 4th February 2025, at 11:00 a.m. due to ongoing budget defense,” Nwoba said.

Similarly, House of Representatives spokesman Akin Rotimi explained that the decision ensures committees can thoroughly engage with MDAs to finalize the ₦49.7 trillion 2025 budget proposal presented by President Bola Tinubu on December 18, 2024.

“This measure guarantees a comprehensive approach to legislative responsibilities. The House remains committed to delivering for the benefit of Nigerians and appreciates stakeholders’ understanding,” Rotimi stated.
