A devastating strike by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a popular market in Omdurman has left at least 54 people dead and 158 wounded, according to the health ministry.
This latest attack is part of the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and RSF, which began in April 2023 over the integration of the two forces.
The war has had catastrophic consequences, killing tens of thousands, displacing millions, and leaving half of the population struggling with hunger.
The conflict has also led to numerous human rights abuses, including summary executions, bombings of displacement camps, and reports of gang rape and other sexual violence.
The situation in Sudan remains dire, with the United Nations estimating that the death toll has surpassed 20,000.
The international community has called for an end to the violence, but the conflict continues to escalate.
