A tragic fire incident occurred at an Almajiri school in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State, resulting in the loss of 17 young pupils.

The fire engulfed the school on Tuesday night and raged for nearly three hours before being brought under control.

Eyewitnesses described the fire as devastating, with scenes of panic as it spread rapidly through the school premises, trapping several pupils. Unfortunately, many were unable to escape, leading to significant casualties.

In addition to the 17 fatalities, several other pupils sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at local hospitals.

Local authorities and emergency responders arrived at the scene to offer help, but their efforts were hindered by the intensity of the fire.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting concerns about fire safety and emergency preparedness in schools.
