At least 29 migrant bodies have been recovered in Libya in two separate incidents, highlighting the ongoing migrant crisis in the country.

In the southeast, the Alwahat district Security Directorate discovered 19 bodies in a mass grave on a farm in the Jikharra area, approximately 441 km from Benghazi. Authorities suspect the deaths are linked to smuggling activities. The victims were found in three graves, with forensic experts conducting investigations.

Meanwhile, in the west, the Libyan Red Crescent reported the recovery of 10 bodies after a migrant boat sank off the Dila port in Zawiya, about 40 km from Tripoli. Volunteers retrieved the bodies from the sea and prepared them for identification.

Libya remains a key transit route for migrants attempting to reach Europe. In late January, authorities rescued 263 migrants from a smuggling network that held them in deplorable conditions.

These incidents underscore the dangers faced by migrants and the growing influence of trafficking networks in the region.
