Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Wednesday, stating that the Ogun State Police Command has been contacted to take custody of the singer.
Portable’s surrender comes after the Ogun State police declared him wanted for allegedly attacking officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The incident occurred at Odogwu Bar in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, during an enforcement exercise.
The singer had recently claimed to be undergoing psychiatric treatment, a statement dismissed by the police, who maintained that he was still wanted for questioning. Portable has been embroiled in multiple controversies, including public altercations and legal issues, which have kept him in the spotlight.
Authorities are expected to proceed with their investigation as Portable remains in custody. Further details are yet to be disclosed.
