In a show of support for former military president Ibrahim Babangida, several Nigerian billionaires, including Aliko Dangote and Abdulsamad Rabiu, have donated billions of naira towards the establishment of his presidential library.
At the launch event, Dangote announced a whopping N6 billion donation, with a commitment to contribute N2 billion annually for the next four years.
He praised Babangida for establishing the private sector in Nigeria, recalling how he issued banking licenses to nearly 30 individuals on a single day.
Abdulsamad Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group, also made a significant contribution of N5 billion.
Other notable donors include Theophilus Danjuma (N3 billion), Arthur Eze (N500 million), and Mustafa Chike-Obi (N100 million).
The event was attended by prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu and former presidents.
The presidential library is expected to serve as a testament to Babangida’s enduring legacy and vision for Nigeria.
