A suspected bandit kingpin, identified as Abu Radde, has surrendered to security forces in Katsina State, Nigeria.
As part of a reported peace accord facilitated by security agencies and local authorities, Radde released 10 kidnapped victims and pledged to release more.
According to intelligence sources, Radde surrendered alongside his foot soldiers. The bandits had approached security officials seeking dialogue and reconciliation through non-kinetic means.
A meeting was convened at Kwari Village Primary School in Jibia LGA, where stakeholders engaged in discussions with the armed group, after which they agreed to lay down their arms and accept peace.
During the meeting, the bandits handed over two AK-47 rifles to the military as a demonstration of their commitment to peace. The released hostages were taken to a general hospital for medical evaluation.
The repentant bandits vowed to halt attacks on communities within the local government area.
