Majengo was thrown into chaos as violent protests erupted following the fatal police shooting of 17-year-old Ibrahim Ramadhan. The high school student was allegedly shot by police officers while returning from evening prayers, sparking outrage among residents who took to the streets demanding justice.
During the protests, another resident, Dennis Muthui, was shot in the stomach and later succumbed to his injuries. According to human rights activist Hussein Khalid, Muthui was shot in the Gikomba area around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, as tensions escalated.

Angry demonstrators set two police cars, the Majengo Police Post, the area chief’s office, and several private vehicles ablaze. In response, police officers fired tear gas canisters to disperse the crowds, but the protesters engaged them in running battles.
At least two people have been confirmed dead so far as clashes between police and residents continue. The unrest highlights growing tensions over alleged police brutality in the area.
