President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Madam Judith Adjobah Blay as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited, following the resignation of Dr. Ben Asante.
Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the country’s energy sector, bringing in a leader with extensive experience in policy development, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business practices.
Alongside her appointment, Robert Kofi Lartey, who previously served as Director of Operations, has been elevated to the position of Deputy Managing Director, reinforcing the company’s leadership and operational efficiency. The Head of Corporate Communications at Ghana Gas, Richard Kirk-Mensah, confirmed the appointments in an official statement, highlighting Madam Blay’s proven track record in driving strategic growth and enhancing local participation in the petroleum industry.

Prior to this appointment, Madam Adjobah Blay served as Deputy Director of Contracts and Administration at the Petroleum Commission of Ghana, where she successfully increased local supplier participation in the upstream petroleum sector by 25 percent annually. She also played a crucial role as Manager of Community Relations at the Commission, where she integrated Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into industry strategies. Her career includes key roles in procurement and supply chain management at Bui Power Authority, as well as contributions to large-scale energy reforms as a Project Coordinator at the Ministry of Energy.
A highly qualified professional, Madam Blay is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS-UK) and holds an MA in International Transactions from George Mason University in the United States, an MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and a BA from the University of Ghana. She is also currently pursuing an LLM in Public Procurement Law and Policy at the University of Nottingham.
An alumna of Wesley Girls’ High School, she has served as an advisory board member for the Western Regional Coastal Foundation and other sustainability initiatives. With over two decades of experience in Ghana’s energy sector, she is widely recognized for her expertise in strategic development and local content enhancement. Her leadership at Ghana Gas is expected to strengthen the company’s operations and contribute to the advancement of the country’s energy industry.
