Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo has announced a 23-man squad for the Black Stars’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, with rising star Christopher Bonsu Baah receiving his first national team call-up.
The 20-year-old winger, who has been in fine form for Belgian club Genk, has been rewarded for his performances in Europe and now has the opportunity to make his senior debut for Ghana.

Also making headlines is the return of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, who has been sidelined from international duty due to injuries. The experienced player, with over 50 caps for Ghana, last featured for the Black Stars more than a year ago. His return is expected to provide much-needed stability and leadership in midfield as Ghana pushes for World Cup qualification.
Addo has blended experience with fresh talent, ensuring a competitive squad for the qualifiers. Kamaldeen Sulemana, who recently recovered from injury, is back in the team, adding pace and creativity to the attack.

Another notable returnee is Jerry Afriyie (CD Lugo), who impressed in a friendly against Niger last year. His inclusion further strengthens Ghana’s attacking options as the team looks to secure maximum points in this international window.
Additionally, three home-based players—Benjamin Asare (Hearts of Oak), Kamaradini Mamudu (Medeama SC), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC)—have been included in the squad.
The Black Stars currently sit second in Group I with nine points from four matches, tied with leaders Comoros. After a 1-0 win over Madagascar, Ghana suffered a setback against Comoros but bounced back with victories against Mali and the Central African Republic in June 2024.

With only the group winners earning automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the upcoming matches are crucial. Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24.
Otto Addo’s squad will assemble on March 17 for a four-day training camp ahead of the first match. With a mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents, the Black Stars are determined to continue their momentum and edge closer to securing a spot in the next World Cup.
