The stage is set for the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Qualifier in Lagos, where six teams will battle for the continent’s sole ticket to the global tournament.
Host nation Nigeria will welcome teams from Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Sierra Leone for the highly anticipated event, which runs from March 28 to April 6, 2025. The matches will be held at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval and the University of Lagos Cricket Oval in Akoka.
Namibia will be the first team to arrive on Tuesday, joining Nigeria in early preparations. The remaining teams are scheduled to land in Lagos on Wednesday, ahead of training sessions on March 27.

The action begins on Friday, March 28, with Nigeria facing Namibia in a crucial 50-over match at Tafawa Balewa Square Oval at 9:30 AM. Meanwhile, Sierra Leone will take on Kenya at the University of Lagos Cricket Oval.
Officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC) have already arrived to oversee the qualifiers and ensure the tournament runs smoothly.
Tournament coordinator Emeka Igwilo highlighted the significance of hosting the event, saying:
“This is another opportunity for Nigeria to showcase the growth of cricket in the country. Beyond talent development, we must also demonstrate progress in administration, facility management, and community engagement. The world will be watching, and I believe Nigeria is ready to be an excellent host.”
With everything set for an exciting competition, African teams will battle for the ultimate prize—a ticket to the 2026 ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup.
