A lawsuit has been filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking the removal of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (rtd) as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State.

The plaintiff, Johnmary Jideobi, argues that President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Ibas is unconstitutional and void.

Jideobi is praying the court to declare Ibas’ actions as Sole Administrator null and void and to restrain President Tinubu from removing or suspending the Governor and Deputy Governor of Rivers State or any other state.

The plaintiff also seeks an order barring President Tinubu from appointing any Sole Administrator into any State Government House.

The lawsuit challenges the legality of Ibas’ appointment, citing sections 1, 5(2), 180, 188, 189, 305, and 306 of the 1999 Constitution.

The plaintiff argues that President Tinubu does not have the constitutional authority to suspend elected officials like governors who are not his appointees.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the case.
