In a relief update, China’s foreign ministry announced on Monday that all crew members aboard a Ghanaian-registered fishing vessel, which was targeted in a suspected pirate attack, are safe.
The incident occurred on March 27, when seven armed individuals boarded the ship in Ghanaian waters, firing warning shots and allegedly kidnapping three Chinese nationals.
The Chinese Embassy in Ghana swiftly activated its emergency response mechanism and has been working closely with Ghanaian authorities.
Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun confirmed the crew’s safety during a press conference, highlighting the embassy’s prompt action and ongoing communication with Ghanaian officials.
