Victor Osimhen has netted his 17th goal of 2025, propelling the Nigerian striker into joint-third place among Europe’s top scorers this calendar year. He now shares the spot with Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, continuing his remarkable goal-scoring form.
The Galatasaray forward scored against Samsunspor on Friday, maintaining his position as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers. With this latest strike, Osimhen has surpassed Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy (13 goals) for the year. Only PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé (24 goals) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé (19 goals) have scored more in 2025.

Osimhen’s goal came in a crucial Turkish Super Lig clash against Samsunspor at the Samsun 19 Mayis Stadium. Galatasaray was looking to extend their three-point lead at the top of the table following a recent derby loss to Besiktas.
The 25-year-old striker has been in sensational form since the start of the year. His 2025 campaign began with a goal in a 2-1 victory over Göztepe on January 4, and he quickly followed up with strikes against Hatayspor, Dynamo Kyiv, Konyaspor, and Ajax by the end of the month.
In February, Osimhen added to his tally with a brace in a 2-1 win over Rizespor and another goal in a 2-2 draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. March was particularly fruitful, as the Super Eagles star scored twice in a 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, netted in a 2-1 victory over Alanyaspor, and capped off the month with a stunning hat-trick in Galatasaray’s 4-0 demolition of Antalyaspor.

April has been no different, with Osimhen scoring twice in a vital 2-1 win over title contenders Fenerbahce, followed by his goal against Samsunspor. His tally now stands at an impressive 29 goals and five assists across all competitions this season.
In the Turkish Super Lig, Osimhen has scored 21 goals and provided four assists, while in the Europa League, he has contributed six goals and one assist. Additionally, he has netted twice in the Turkish Cup.
His goal-scoring prowess has been vital for Galatasaray as they chase the Turkish Super Lig title, especially after their first league defeat of the season to Besiktas, which reduced their lead to just three points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahce.
Osimhen’s consistent performances are drawing attention from Europe’s top clubs, with speculation about his future beyond his loan spell in Turkey continuing to grow.
