The Lagos State Judiciary is mourning the sudden death of Justice Abdulganiyu Safari, a respected judge of the Epe Division of the Lagos State High Court, who died early Sunday at the age of 62.
He was laid to rest on Monday in accordance with Islamic rites at his residence on Alhaja Busola Street near Singer Bus Stop in Sango/Ota, Ogun State.
The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the judiciary, prompting several courtrooms across the state to suspend proceedings on Monday as judges and legal practitioners paid their last respects.
Justice Safari, who previously served as the Chief Registrar of the Lagos State Judiciary, was appointed to the Lagos bench on May 28, 2013, by former Governor Babatunde Fashola.
He earned widespread respect for his humility, legal expertise, and dedication to justice.
The legal community, including M.O. Ayida, Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Mrs. Ololade Ige, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, and Mrs. Grace Alo, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Justice, paid tribute to his memory, describing him as a paragon of judicial excellence and a man of exceptional humility and integrity.
