A Somali actor, Guudey Mohamed Geedi, who starred in a film warning of the devastating effects of clan revenge killings, has been shot dead in a similar incident.

The film, “Aano Qabiil,” highlights the futility of vendettas between rival clans that often lead to senseless killings. Geedi, a married father of 11, was killed by armed men in a long-standing inter-family feud in his village.

The authorities have not commented on the case, and no one has been arrested for his murder.

The film’s director, Abdisiyaad Abdullhai Mohamed, is tormented by Geedi’s death, saying it was a painful reminder that revenge only leads to more death and destruction.
