President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Pope Francis, describing him as “a humble servant of God, tireless champion of the poor, and guiding light for millions.”
In a personal statement, Tinubu said the Pope’s passing was a “sacred return to his Maker at a time of renewed hope for Christians.”
Tinubu highlighted Pope Francis’s message of mercy, his advocacy for the marginalized, and his efforts to build bridges between faiths and communities.
He also praised the Pope’s encyclicals, saying they offered spiritual clarity and hope in a complex world.
The President recalled his Easter message, where he thanked God for the Pope’s recovery, and expressed sadness that the world lost a strong voice for justice and action against climate change.
Tinubu extended condolences to the Catholic Church and the global Catholic community, saying, “May God Almighty grant His beloved servant eternal rest.”
He urged people to honor the Pope’s legacy by lifting those in need, healing communities, and defending human dignity.
