“The opening of Boeing’s office in Addis Ababa signals a growing recognition of Ethiopia’s strategic importance in aviation,” he said at the ceremony. “It also aligns with our broader goals of improving transport efficiency, reducing trade costs, and enhancing regional connectivity.”

The minister noted that Ethiopia’s transport and logistics sectors are undergoing major modernization, guided by the country’s ten-year development plan spearheaded by the National Transport Council.

“This move underscores Boeing’s long-term commitment to Africa’s aviation landscape and its drive for sustainable innovation and growth across the continent,” he added.

The event drew high-profile attendees, including Kuljit Gatta, Boeing’s President for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia; U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia Ervin Masinga; Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority Director General Getachew Mengistu; and Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew, along with other senior aviation executives.
