Damilola Adeniyi Adegeye, daughter of legendary juju musician King Sunny Ade, has raised serious allegations against her step-brother, Dayo Adegeye, accusing him of abducting their father and forcing him to work under duress.

In a series of emotional Instagram posts, Damilola claimed that the 78-year-old music icon is being held against his will by Dayo, who also serves as his manager. She further alleged that Dayo, with the help of his mother, two brothers (Demola and Kenny), and the family driver, Ade, has cut off communication with the rest of the family.

“King Sunny Ade has been kidnapped,” she wrote. “The manager is the culprit along with his mother, brothers (Demola and Kenny), and his driver Ade.”
Damilola, who is based in the United Kingdom, said the singer’s whereabouts are unknown to most of the family. She accused Dayo of providing false reassurances while refusing to disclose Sunny Ade’s location, leading to growing concern among family members.
“These are the ones my dad is around, but no one in the family knows his whereabouts,” she said. “They say everyone knows, but they are not telling us where he is.”
She also alleged that the iconic musician continues to perform despite his age and health, but claimed that none of the proceeds from his performances are reaching the family.
“Bro D, stop booking the shows and let him rest, so he can take care of his family,” she said. “He keeps working, but the family is not seeing the money.”
Calling the situation an emergency, Damilola appealed to the Nigerian police to intervene, warning the public not to book her father for events until the matter is resolved.
“Please don’t book him now. He is working under duress!” she wrote. As of now, neither King Sunny Ade nor Dayo Adegeye has issued an official response to the allegations.
