The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has thwarted an attempt to illegally transfer approximately five million rounds of ammunition to Sudan’s army.
Authorities found the ammunition on a private plane at an undisclosed airport and made several arrests.
The plot allegedly involved Sudan’s former intelligence chief, Salah Gosh.
Sudan’s armed forces have accused the UAE of arming the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a rival group in the country’s ongoing civil war, which the UAE denies.
Sudan has filed a case at the International Court of Justice against the UAE, accusing them of arming the RSF.
