Workers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have joined their counterparts across Nigeria and around the world to commemorate the 2025 May Day celebration.

Dressed in vibrant outfits that reflect their various professions and trades, the workers gathered at Eagle Square, Abuja, the central venue for the celebration.

Security around the area is tight, with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) stationed at key entry points and within the venue to ensure safety.

During the event, leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are expected to address pressing issues affecting the workforce and the country at large. These include the welfare of workers, implementation of the new minimum wage, and broader economic concerns.

As of the time of this report, it remains uncertain whether President Bola Tinubu or Vice President Kashim Shettima will be present at the event, which marks the second May Day celebration under the current administration.
