Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has suspended his Senior Special Reporter, Ibrahim Rabi’u, attached to the Ministry of Transportation, over unauthorized and inflammatory comments regarding Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s alleged defection.
The suspension, effective immediately, was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, and confirmed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The government distanced itself from Rabi’u’s comments, stating they were made without authorization and did not reflect the government’s position.
A query has been issued to Rabi’u, who is expected to respond regarding the statement that stirred controversy across political circles in the state.
Governor Yusuf warned all political appointees against making unauthorized public comments, especially on matters of political sensitivity, emphasizing that only the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Garba Wayya, is authorized to speak on behalf of the Kano State Government, while Sanusi Bature remains the official spokesperson for the Governor.
