Algeria’s Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized France for allegedly imposing visa requirements on Algerian officials with diplomatic passports, calling it a “flagrant breach” of a 2013 agreement exempting diplomatic passport holders from visa requirements.

The ministry expressed “great astonishment” at France’s actions, which it claims are being communicated through unofficial channels, violating established diplomatic norms.

In response, Algeria has warned that it will strictly apply the principle of reciprocity, proportionate to the extent of France’s breach of its commitments.

The ministry also stressed that France has not officially notified Algeria of any changes through diplomatic channels, as required by the agreement.

This development has led to tensions between the two nations, with Algeria accusing France of attempting to evade responsibility for its actions.
